Devotion for Today
Answering the Call with Courage
Joshua stood at a crossroads, tasked with leading an entire nation into an unknown land filled with formidable challenges. It was a daunting assignment, one that could easily stir up fear and uncertainty. But God’s command to Joshua was clear: “Be strong and courageous.”
This command wasn’t a mere suggestion or an encouraging pep talk. It was a divine assurance rooted in God’s unchanging character and steadfast presence.
Joshua’s courage wasn’t to be based on his abilities or resources, but on God’s promise: “The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
In our lives, we may face moments that feel overwhelming, moments when God’s call seems too big, too difficult, or too uncertain. Like Joshua, we’re asked to step into unknown territories, to undertake tasks that seem beyond our capacities. But just as He did with Joshua, God commands us to be strong and courageous.
Courage in the face of God’s call isn’t about the absence of fear, but the decision to move forward despite it. It’s about anchoring ourselves not in our strength, but in God’s unending presence and unwavering promises.
Answering God’s call with courage doesn’t mean we won’t face obstacles or challenges. It means we trust that God is bigger than any challenge we face. It’s about believing that the One who calls us is faithful and will equip us for every good work He has prepared for us.
