Ant Wisdom
Did you know ants and bees are related? They are. Which is why it’s not surprising that both species are known for their work ethic. I never gave much thought to ants before I read about them in the Bible.
Are you ever surprised by what you find in the Bible? Like ants (Proverbs), thunderstorms (Job), and love letters (Song of Songs). Anyway, that was just a side note. Back to the ants…
Ants are known, not just for their work ethic, but also for their ingenuity. They divide up their chores but work together to get things done. No ant stands alone. No ant works alone. And that’s the lesson in wisdom we can learn today. Not just that ants are hard workers, but that they work together. Ecclesiastes says it this way, “And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” That’s why having a church family is so important. It’s why we need to be surrounded by other believers. The author of Hebrews gave us this encouragement: “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near” (10:24-25). God created us for community. Just like the ants.
