Because He Lives We Are Born Again
Because He Lives We Are Born Again
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
1 Peter 1:3
Devotion for Today
When Nicodemus came up to talk to Jesus, Jesus told him that unless someone is born again, they cannot enter the kingdom of God (John 3:3).
Let’s be honest, if you hadn’t heard that (born again) dozens of times in your life, you would have been just as confused as Nicodemus. I know I would have been. What a funny thing to say.
Yet Jesus was all about stirring our hearts.
When you think about being born again, being born into God’s family, it creates a longing within us. There is a natural desire that’s built into people that makes us long to belong to something. That’s a God-given desire. A desire only He can fill.
When we accept Jesus’ as our resurrected Savior, we instantly become born again. We have the hope that we are part of something that will never die, because once we enter God’s family, we are part of it for all eternity.
And that’s made possible because of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. If He hadn’t risen, our faith would be pointless. There wouldn’t be any eternal life whether we were part of God’s family or not. But He has risen from the dead. And because He lives, we are born again and have a living hope.
Our Redeemer lives.
