Because He Lives We Are Justified
Because He Lives We Are Justified
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
Romans 3:23-24
Devotion for Today
Have you ever felt the need to justify your actions?
Usually, it happens when someone is looking down on us for some reason.
You’ve been there, right?
I think we all have at one time or another.
But have you ever tried to justify yourself before Jesus?
I’ve been there, too—but here’s the thing: No matter what we’ve done, no matter what the reason, we never have to justify ourselves before Jesus.
Romans 5:18 tells us, “Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.” Jesus died so we could be justified before a righteous and just God.
We don’t have to justify ourselves, because Jesus already did it for us. He died for our guilt, but death couldn’t hold Him because He had no guilt of His own.
Now, when we stand before God who demands our justification, Jesus steps in and says it’s already taken care of. Instead of trying to explain away our guilt, all we have to do is point to Jesus. Yes, we were guilty, we are guilty, of sin, but Jesus paid our ransom and now we can stand justified before our righteous and holy God.
Our Redeemer lives.
