Because He Lives We have a mediator between us and God.

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.

Devotion for Today

Back in the Old Testament, people had to talk to God through a mediator (Moses). There were priests and a veil in the temple to separate ordinary people from such a holy God. There were rituals, sacrifices, and a whole to-do around coming before God.

But then came Jesus.

He preached that ordinary people could approach the throne of God with confidence (Hebrews 4:16).

When Jesus died on the cross, the veil in the temple was torn in two. He made a way, where before there was no way.

When Jesus died, He told the disciples that He would send a helper for us (John 14). That helper is the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:26-27 tells us, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”

Even when we don’t know what to pray, we can be confident that the blood of Christ has us covered and the Holy Spirit knows just what we need and is taking it before the Father.

I don’t know where today finds you, but I hope you know that you can take whatever you’re going through before God and He will hear the echoes of your heart.
