Genesis 5:24
Devotion for Today
We don’t know too much about Enoch, but we know enough. We know Enoch was a man of God. While he was on earth, he walked with God. And when he was done on earth, he went to be with Jesus.
Can you imagine a better friend?
Enoch only had ten verses in the entire Bible, but he left a legacy for everyone who’s ever come after him.
In the genealogies in Genesis, he’s the only one who didn’t father children and die.
In the hall of faith in Hebrews, he’s praised for having pleased God (11:5).
Enoch left a legacy that endures for generations. And I want to be like Enoch.
When it’s time for me to leave this earth, I pray people remember that I walked with God. I know when I move on from this life I’ll be with Jesus, just like Enoch is. I know it in the very depths of my soul and no one can take that away from me.
But it’s the legacy I hope to leave behind.
So while we don’t know a whole lot about Enoch, it turns out he’s a great role model. When we are walking with God we can walk with our friend Enoch, too.
