Bible Besties | Saul

Today’s Bible Besties devotion is about Saul.

And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”

Revelation 21:5

Devotion for Today

Steven was being stoned for preaching about Jesus. Saul, a young Pharisee, held the coats for the others. And that was the best of Saul’s transgressions. He had made it his personal mission to end the Jesus movement. Hunting Christians across Israel and arresting them or putting them to death.

But then something happened.

On his way to Damascus, Saul encountered Jesus first hand—and his whole world changed.

And I wonder how many of us need that reminder.

The reminder that we aren’t the same people we were before we met Jesus.

Because Jesus makes all things new.

So that time you messed up in high school, you stand forgiven at the cross.

That time you lied to your boss, you stand forgiven at the cross.

When you rebelled against all things Jesus, you stand forgiven at the cross.

It doesn’t matter who you were before you came to Jesus, you stand forgiven at the cross.

And that’s not even the best part.

Romans 8:1 (which was written by Saul) says, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” That means even the mistakes we make now, and all of our failures are covered by the blood Jesus shed for us on the cross.

God’s grace and forgiveness towards us is never ending.

Saul was a pretty bad dude, but God forgave him, just like He forgives us.

So if you’ve been hanging out with Saul, you need to know that you stand forgiven at the cross, just like Saul.
