Controlling Wisdom
Ephesians 4:26 tells us to be angry, but not to sin in our anger. I think that’s what today’s verse is getting at. We can be angry. It’s an emotion we were given by God. Jesus even got angry (Mark 3). But there is an anger that does not lead to sin.
Have you ever given full vent to your anger? I have, and every time I do I regret it almost immediately. There is wisdom in holding back your righteous anger. It’s even better if you can sit back, take in the whole situation, and pray about it before you respond. This is not an area in which I accel. But I’m working on it. That’s how to be angry and not sin. Don’t let anger rule your actions, responses, or just you in general.
We have to take our anger to Jesus and seek out His will. He won’t always give us permission to react, but He will always give us guidance on how to glorify Him in our situation. And that’s always the best thing we can do, angry or not.
