December 3 Devotional

Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!

2 Corinthians 9:15

Whether we are giving or receiving, gifts are a huge part of the Christmas season. And one of the greatest gifts of the season was/is/always will be the gift of Jesus, Himself.

In Genesis 1, we can read about how God created the world. He spoke it into being. Genesis 2 details the creation of mankind in God’s image. He created us to have relationships with Him and with each other. But then came Genesis 3: the fall.

When we rejected God’s truth for Satan’s lies, we became eternally separated from God. We couldn’t have a relationship with a holy and righteous God, because we were no longer holy and righteous.

That’s why Jesus is God’s inexpressible gift.

He gave us Himself.

He came as both Immanuel (God with us) and Yeshua (The Lord Saves).

He made a way to relate to us in the here and now (Hebrews 4:14-16) and for all eternity (Romans 3:21-26 and John 3:16).
