Devotion for Today: Romans 15:13

ByHeather Hart

The devotion for today is designed to help you dig into God’s Word, spend time with the One who created you, and let Jesus invade your life.

Bible Verse for Today

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 15:13

Devotion for Today

How’s your year going?

I don’t know if I want to laugh or cry when I look back over the past several months. It’s been a trip, that’s for sure.

However, today I realized that I’ve been focusing on all the wrong things.

I could list out dozens of negative things that have happened just in the past 30 days. But when I stop, I realize each of those negative things, has a positive that goes with it.

Our gas was leaking and had to be shut off, but earlier this year we had an electric water heater installed in the back house. So we didn’t have to take cold showers.

A loved one got admitted to the hospital, but I was able to be there when she needed me.

My migraines are getting worse again, but my doctor just heard about a new treatment that might help me.

Every time something bad comes our way, God is right there with us providing a silver lining.

I don’t know where today finds you, but I hope you can see the silver lining no matter what comes your way.

Praying Romans 15:13 for Today

Father God, please fill me with joy and peace regardless of my circumstances. Help me to see the good, even when everything seems to be going wrong. Help me to overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. And let all who see me, catch a glimpse of You.

Reflection for Today

If you are feeling overwhelmed by life, try to make a list of things that are good despite the bad.
