Devotion for Today

ByHeather Hart

Scripture for Today

Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there be any grievous way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting!

Psalm 139:23-24

Devotion for Today

I haven’t been very diligent in reading my Bible this month… or maybe I should say this season.

I had a Bible reading routine, but then life happened, and it wasn’t practical anymore. Instead of finding a new routine, I just let it fall by the weigh side. I still read my Bible when I have a moment, but it isn’t consistent in the least.

Partly because my life keeps changing. Even if I did set a new time, it would have changed again and again. Because my life keeps changing. This is a season of change for me.

Maybe you can relate?

While I cling to God being a constant in my life, my time in the Word is sporadic.

That’s why last week, I started leaving my Bible open on the table.

When I stop to eat or sit, it’s there, and I can read a short passage. It’s not the quiet time I’m used to, but it’s better than nothing.

I’ve been in this season before, so it’s not new to me, it’s almost like a familiar homecoming. Like, I remember what to do when this happens.

Can you relate? If so, I encourage you to start small and don’t give up.
