Devotion for Today
Jesus Created Everything
In my Bible next to the opening verses of Genesis, I wrote a note that says, “Faith starts here.” It’s a reminder from Hebrews 11:3, “By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.”
Before the earth came into being, there was Jesus. Genesis says that God hovered over the formless void and then He spoke the earth into existence. Every mountain and every valley were created by Jesus. Colossians 1:16 says that, “For by him all things were created.”
Every ant on the ground and cloud in the sky, they all exist because of Jesus. Every sunset and every raindrop are the work of His hand. As Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Jesus is the Word of God (John 1:1), and He created it all.
Today, that truth leaves me thankful for all of creation.
Prayer of Gospel Gratitude
Father God, thank You for creating the world. Please help me remember that it’s all the work of Your hands as I go about my day. You are the master craftsman, and I am so thankful to know You. In the name of Your Son, Jesus, I pray, amen.
