Devotion for Today
Jesus is Our Savior
God created us to love us, but a forced love is no love at all, so He gave us free will. With that free will, we rejected Him. He gave us one rule, and we broke it. We chose to listen to someone other than Jesus.
In the beginning, we chose to reject God’s plan for our lives. We sinned against Him back then, and we continue sinning against Him today. James 4:17 says, “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.”
Have you ever done the wrong thing? Have you ever known what was right, but failed to do it? Yeah, me too. Romans 3:23 says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” That’s bad news, and it gets worse when you read Romans 6:23, “The wages of sin is death.”
However, God loves us, so He didn’t leave us without hope. Romans 6:23 also says, “But the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” That’s good news!
We all deserve God’s wrath, but instead of condemning the entire human race, God sent His Son to be our Savior. He took the penalty for our sin—all of it. It’s all covered by the blood He shed on the cross. And that’s why I’m thankful for salvation today.

Father God, thank You for sending Your Son to save us. Thank You for loving me, even though I’m a sinful mess. Please forgive me when I fail You and help me walk in Your ways. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
