Kingdom Priorities

ByHeather Hart

Kingdom Priorities is the devotion for today. It’s designed to help you dig into God’s Word, spend time with the One who created you, and let Jesus invade your life.

Bible Verse for Today

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

Matthew 6:33 (NIV)

Devotion for Today

Kingdom Priorities

Imagine you’re an architect designing a skyscraper. You wouldn’t start with the penthouse design, would you? Of course not! You’d begin with the foundation because everything else depends upon it. The strength, stability, and the very existence of the skyscraper rest on the solidity of the foundation.

Our lives are much like that skyscraper. We can have various floors—career, relationships, hobbies, aspirations—but what matters most is the foundation.

In Matthew 6:33, Jesus presents us with the blueprint for a firm foundation: “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.”

When we prioritize God’s Kingdom and righteousness, we establish a strong base for our lives. This doesn’t mean we ignore or neglect other aspects of our life. Instead, it means we frame them within the context of God’s Kingdom. Our decisions, actions, and attitudes are guided by God’s righteousness. Our aspirations align with His purposes.

As we seek God’s Kingdom first, we experience His promise: “all these things will be given to you as well.”

Our needs, even our desires, are met—not always in the way we imagine or on our timetable, but according to His perfect plan and provision.

Being called by the King means prioritizing His kingdom above everything else. It’s about building our lives on the solid foundation of His righteousness.
