Living at the Feet of Jesus

ByHeather Hart

Bible Verse for Today

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
 let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!”

Psalm 95:6

Devotion for Today

Commanded at the Feet of Jesus

Jesus spoke the world into existence (Genesis 1). He created every sunrise, sapling, and snail. The entire world sits at His feet (Acts 7:49-50). He created it all (Colossians 1:16).

The day is coming when every knee will bow at the name of Jesus (Philippians 2:9-10). But it’s painfully obvious that today is not that day. Today, only those who are willing to humbly submit their lives to Jesus as Lord bow at the feet of Jesus.

It’s a choice each of us must make. With every decision we make day-by-day and moment-by-moment, we can either surrender our will for His or not. Jesus wants us to pick up our cross daily and choose to follow Him (Luke 9:23). But the decision is ours (Joshua 24:15).

Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Colossians 3:17 encourages us, “whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

That’s how God wants us to live. He wants us to live at the feet of Jesus. Weighing every decision based on our love for Him.

But do we?

I think it’s one of those things that’s easier said than done. It’s easy to say Jesus is Lord, but harder to live it out in our everyday lives. It’s harder to say not my will, but Yours be done (Luke 22:42). But for the times when we fail to choose Jesus, there’s grace for that.

God knew we would never live up to His standards, that’s why Jesus came (1 Timothy 1:15). We have all failed to choose Jesus—to do what God would have us do—at some point in our lives (Romans 3:23 and James 4:17). Thankfully, God gives us grace (John 1:16).

So today, I hope you choose to surrender to God’s will, but I also pray that you rest in His grace.

It’s easy to say Jesus is Lord, but harder to live it out in our everyday lives. Share on X
