Loving Wisdom

Love is a pretty important concept in the Bible. Jesus said the first and greatest commandment is to love the Lord our God with all our hearts, and the second greatest commandment is to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22). 1 John 4:8 says, “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

Too often though, we can find ourselves filled with the opposite of love: hate. Maybe we wouldn’t say we were filled with hate, but we are bitter or impatient. We hold grudges and dislike others. We could definitely describe ourselves as not loving everything and everyone at all times. But that’s what God calls us to. He calls us to love. 1 Corinthians 13 tells us that if we have not love, we have nothing.

I don’t know where today finds you, but I hope it will fill you with a little more love than you had yesterday. After all, people will know that we are Christians if we love one another.
