A New Years Devotional

ByHeather Hart

Are you looking for a New Years devotional? If so, you’ve come to the right place. The new year starts tomorrow and we’re kicking it off at the feet of Jesus.

Scripture for a New Year

Depend on the Lord for strength. Always go to him for help. Remember the amazing things he has done. Remember his miracles and his fair decisions.

1 Chronicles 16:11-12 ERV

A New Years Blessing

I was reading through a list of Scriptures for the new year when I came across today’s verse from 1 Chronicles. I didn’t think it could be any more perfect.

This new year, I hope you:

  • Depend on the Lord for strength.
  • Always go to God for help.
  • Remember the amazing things God has done in your life.
  • Believe in miracles.
  • Trust that God is just and fair.

That’s my hope for you for 2024.

And now for a new years devotional…

A New Years Devotional

By this time tomorrow it will be a new year. As I look forward, I can’t help but also look back.

2023 was a rough year for me. Toothaches, migraines, sickness, and death all marked the months gone by.

But do you know what else marked the year?

Jesus.

I clung to Jesus when my grandma passed away. I leaned into Him when my head hurt so bad I could barely see. Every moment of the day, every day of the month, every month of the year, Jesus was there. Steady and sure.

2023 was a rough year, but God was always there.

So as I look forward to 2024, I know He’s already there, too.

God knows the end from the beginning and I can trust that each day to come is already safe in His hands. We can surrender our new year to Jesus because He’s bigger than whatever is yet to come.

So on this last day of the year gone by I feel a deep sense of peace. Peace for days gone by and peace for days to come. They are what they are and Jesus is there.
