Prepare the Way
“Behold, I send my messenger before your face,
Mark 1:2-3
who will prepare your way,
the voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord,
make his paths straight,’”
While I don’t want to live off of locusts or wear camel hair clothing, John the Baptist has long been someone I admire. He wasn’t just the cousin of Jesus; his whole life purpose was to point to Christ.
Next to the opening lines of the book of Mark in my Bible I have the question written, “His life and ministry pointed to Jesus… does mine?”
That’s the question I want to leave you with today. Do your life and ministry point others to Jesus? Are you helping prepare the way for Jesus to enter the hearts of those around you?
While it isn’t our job to save others, we can still be beacons pointing them towards Jesus. Our words and actions as Christians can draw others to Jesus or push them away. What we say and do matters.
As you go about your day today, I encourage you to ask yourself if you are pointing others toward Jesus. Can they tell He is the Lord of your life? If they found out you believed in Christ, would they want to know more, or would it turn them away?
