Devotion for Today
The Call to Forgiveness
Consider a mother who forgives her toddler for spilling juice on her favorite book. She doesn’t hold a grudge or remind him of his mistake repeatedly. Instead, she forgives him completely, understanding that he’s still learning and growing.
In much the same way, God forgives us. Despite our mistakes and shortcomings, He offers us grace and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. And He calls us to extend that same forgiveness to others.
In Colossians 3:13, we’re reminded to bear with each other and forgive anyone who might have wronged us. We’re called to forgive as the Lord forgave us—completely and unconditionally.
Forgiving others is not always easy. It requires humility, patience, and love. But when we choose to forgive, we reflect God’s grace and bring healing to our relationships. We also free ourselves from the burden of bitterness and resentment, allowing us to experience more of God’s peace and joy.
So, let’s respond to the call to forgiveness. Let’s forgive others as we have been forgiven, reflecting God’s grace and demonstrating his love to the world.
