Devotion for Today
The Call to Purity
Picture an artist meticulously working on a white canvas. Every stroke of the brush is intentional, every color chosen with care. The artist understands that even a single misplaced stroke can affect the whole painting. He guards the purity of his canvas because he values the masterpiece he’s creating.
In much the same way, we are God’s masterpiece, and He has called us to protect the purity of our lives. In 1 Thessalonians 4:7, we’re reminded that God didn’t call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. This call to purity involves every part of our being—our thoughts, words, and actions.
Living a life of purity doesn’t mean we’re perfect; it means we strive to align our lives with God’s standards. It means we’re careful about what we allow into our minds, the words we speak, and the actions we take. It means we seek God’s forgiveness when we fall short and rely on His grace to help us grow in holiness.
In a world where purity is often undervalued, let’s remember the value God places on it. Let’s strive to uphold purity, not out of legalistic obligation, but out of love for the Artist who is crafting us into His masterpiece.
