Devotion for Today
The Call to Worship
Imagine a world-class violinist playing his heart out on a priceless Stradivarius violin. His fingers dance across the strings, creating a beautiful melody that captivates everyone who hears it. Now, imagine this violin coming to life and refusing to be played, insisting that it could make music without the violinist. It’s absurd, isn’t it? A violin, no matter how precious, cannot create music without the hands of a skilled musician.
Similarly, we are like instruments in the hands of God, our Maker. We are designed to resonate with His glory, to make beautiful music for Him through our lives. Yet, sometimes we behave like that rebellious violin, trying to create our own tune, independent of our Creator.
In Psalm 95:6, we are reminded of our true purpose: to bow down in worship, to kneel before the Lord our Maker.
Worship is more than singing songs on Sunday; it’s about acknowledging God’s rightful place in our lives every day. It’s about surrendering ourselves, like the violin to the violinist, allowing Him to create a melody of love, grace, and glory through our lives.
When we live in worship, honoring God in everything we do, our lives become a beautiful symphony that testifies of His goodness and love. We fulfill our calling not by asserting our independence, but by joyfully acknowledging our dependence on our Maker.
