But he was pierced for our transgressions;
Isaiah 53:5
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
Devotion for Today
Way back when time began, God created the heavens and the earth. He created all the creatures that live on land and in the depths of the sea. And then He created humankind in His image.
He created us to love us but knowing that a forced love is no love at all, He gave us free will. And with that free will, mankind chose to sin against God. The first humans lived in a beautiful garden where God walked with them, but they listened to Satan’s lies.
And Satan continues to whisper lies in our ears.
Sin was ushered into the world in the garden, but it continues to reign today. We’ve all fallen for Satan’s schemes.
But that’s why Jesus came.
Knowing we were separated from God by our sin, God sent His Son to live a perfect life and die a sinner’s death, to cover the sins of the world. My sins and yours.
John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” That’s what Jesus did for us
Isaiah 53:5 says it this way, “But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”
That’s our Jesus, y’all
It doesn’t matter if it’s the first time you’ve heard it or the two millionth time. You can turn to Jesus or turn your heart back to Him right now.
When we declare Him as Lord of our lives, sin loses the grip it has on us.
Romans 6:14 tells us: “For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.” We are under grace, y’all. And there is nothing better than to know we can rest in Jesus.
