There is No Condemnation

Romans 3:23 tells us that we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Which means we all deserve God’s wrath, both as a whole and for all the little things we get wrong every day. But that’s not the way of our God.

Romans 8:1 is one of my favorite Bible verses. It tells us that “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” None.

It doesn’t matter what you’ve done in the past, what you’re struggling with today, or what you’ll do tomorrow. All of your sins are covered by the blood of Christ. If you belong to Jesus, you stand forgiven and free, both now and always.

That time you broke the rules in high school: Forgiven.

That time you lied to your boss: Forgiven.

The sins that are so big you don’t even want to think about them: Forgiven.

And if God has forgiven you, don’t you think it’s time to forgive yourself?

Romans 5:8 says, “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” That’s good news. And today, it leaves me thankful that there is no condemnation for those who belong to Jesus.

Prayer of Gospel Gratitude

Father God, thank You for loving me even when I didn’t deserve it. Sometimes I still don’t feel worthy of Your love, but I know You love me, anyway. Thank You for that. Help me rest in the forgiveness You offer. In the name of Your Son, who died on the cross for me; amen.
