Wisdom for Today

Esther was beautiful. She had a great figure and was lovely to look at (Esther 2:7). That’s the reason the king chose her to be his queen. But that’s not the reason we remember her. We remember her because she feared the Lord. That’s where we started this journey through the Proverbs and it’s where we’re going to end.

It doesn’t matter if we are beautiful or ugly, rich or poor, charming or gruff, what matters is whether or not we fear the Lord. Everything else will fall away or fade with time, but being a God-fearing woman will never change.

Paul wrote in the book of Romans that he was, “convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39). And that’s the truth I want to leave you with.
