Devotion for Today

Jesus Gives us Rest

Have you ever been so overwhelmed by life that you didn’t know what to do next? I have. It’s not a fun place to be in, but in today’s world, it happens all too often. That’s why I love these verses in Matthew.

Jesus calls us to come to Him when we’re weary, and He will give us rest by taking the burden off our shoulders. Instead of worrying about everything going on, we can place it at His feet and trust that He will work it all out.

Sometimes that’s easier said than done, am I right?

Sometimes we place something at the feet of Jesus and then pick it right back up again. It can be hard to surrender control (or even the elusion of control). But that’s what Jesus calls us to do. That’s the yoke He wants us to take on—to learn from Him and trust Him no matter what comes our way. And when we learn to trust in Jesus, then He will give us rest for our soul.

Prayer of Gospel Gratitude

Father God, thank You for sending Jesus. Thank You that He is capable of taking all our sins and sorrows upon Himself. Please help me to lay my troubles at His feet and trust in Him alone.
