Responding to the King’s Call

ByHeather Hart

Responding to the King’s Call is the devotion for today. It’s designed to help you dig into God’s Word, spend time with the One who created you, and let Jesus invade your life.

Bible Verse for Today

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!'”

Isaiah 6:8 (NIV)

Devotion for Today

Responding to the King’s Call

Imagine you’re at a crowded station, waiting for a train. The noise around is overwhelming—people chatting, announcements blaring, trains rumbling. Amid all this chaos, you hear a familiar voice calling your name. It’s faint but distinct.

You look around and see a friend waving at you from across the platform. Despite the noise, despite the distance, you recognized their voice because you know them well.

That’s a bit like hearing God’s call in our lives. The world is noisy, filled with countless voices vying for our attention. But amidst it all, there’s a voice that calls out to us, a voice that we can recognize if we know the One who speaks.

In Isaiah 6:8, the prophet hears the voice of the Lord asking, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

Isaiah responds without hesitation, “Here am I. Send me!”

He doesn’t ask where he’s being sent or what he’ll have to do. He simply says yes to God’s call.

Responding to the King’s call isn’t always easy. It requires us to tune out the noise and tune into God’s voice. It asks us to trust Him, to say ‘yes’ even when we don’t have all the details. But just like recognizing a friend’s voice in a crowded station, the more we know God—through prayer, through His Word—the easier it becomes to hear His call.
