Because He Lives We Are Forgiven
Because He Lives We Are Forgiven
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.
Ephesians 1:7
Devotion for Today
Sin. It’s such a short little word, but it packs a powerful punch. There’s a weight to it. We’re all guilty of it. We all deserve the punishment for it. But God is gracious.
Psalm 130:3 says, “If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?” None of us could. We are all guilty of one sin or another.
And the punishment for sin is death (Genesis 2:17). We all deserve to die for our sins. But that’s where Jesus comes in.
Jesus, the Word of God, the One who spoke the world into existence, was born into His creation and took our punishment upon Himself. He died in our place.
The death we all earned?
Jesus died for us.
His blood was shed to cover all the sins of the world. Yours. Mine. Everyone’s. His blood covered them all. And then He rose. Instead of our sin defeating Him, He defeated our sins.
Is that a truth you can lean into today? It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done, you stand forgiven because He is risen. Our Redeemer lives.
