Because He Lives We Are Saved
Because He Lives We Are Saved
“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:12
Devotion for Today
“Amazing Grace how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me!” [1] The words of an old slave ship captain echo in my head.
We all need saving. Noone, save Jesus, knows the extent of my sin (or yours).
In the prophet Isaiah’s words, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way;” (Isaiah 53:6).
That’s all of us.
We’ve all tried to live life our way and we’ve all botched it. We’ve all been guilty of sin.
But Isaiah didn’t stop there. Our sins? God laid them on Jesus.
When Jesus died on the cross, He paid the penalty for all our sins. Rising again He defeated them. The only thing left was for us to believe it.
It doesn’t matter how sinful we were or where we came from, if we believe Jesus is who He says He is and did what the Bible said He did, we are forgiven and Jesus calls us His own.
Repent and believe. We were lost in our sins, but we were found by Christ. We were blind to our sins, but now we see our need for a savior and we know that Savior is Jesus.
“I once was lost, but now I’m found; was blind, but now I see.”[2]
Our Redeemer lives.
