Gracious Wisdom
We’ve all seen it done and probably done it at some point in our lives, but God doesn’t want us to rejoice when bad things happen to those who have hurt us. God doesn’t believe in Karma but says “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” (Romans 12:19)
God’s Word also says, “…as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.” We shouldn’t be walking around with a vendetta against someone or rejoice when bad things happen to bad people. Instead, God wants us to love others the way He loves us—regardless of our sins or theirs. Instead of wishing them dead, we should kill them with kindness and pray for God to work in their lives. After all, Jesus commanded us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matt. 5:44).
Wisdom isn’t vindictive, but gracious. Just like love it doesn’t rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoices with truth (1 Cor. 13:6), wisdom is being able to know you were wronged and rise above it instead of living in that place of hurt. Wisdom keeps putting one foot in front of the other regardless of what goes wrong.
