Devotion for Today
Jesus is the Cornerstone of Our Faith
The Christian faith starts and ends with Jesus. The very name Christian starts with Christ. Jesus is the cornerstone of our faith. Everything else revolves around and builds on Him, and that’s a good thing.
We don’t have a faith that’s too complicated to understand. We don’t have to learn 613 commandments to be in with God. We just have to place our faith in Jesus.
We have to trust that God loved us so much He sent His Son to pay the price for our sins. We must believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and make Him the Lord of our lives. It’s all about Jesus.
Matthew 6:33 says to “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” When we build our faith on Christ, everything else falls into place. Luke 6 says it this way, “Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built” (vv. 47-48).
Faith built on Jesus can weather the storms of life. He is our cornerstone and for that, I am thankful.
Prayer of Gospel Gratitude
Father God, thank You for Jesus. Thank You that we can know Him as the cornerstone of our faith, that we don’t have to work to build up our faith. Instead, we can put our faith in Him and let everything else fall into place.
