Devotion for Today

The Holy Spirit Lives in Me

Jesus is Immanuel, God with us (Matthew 1:23) but it’s the third member of the Trinity that lives inside us. When Jesus was on earth, He said He was leaving so He could send another Helper: the Holy Spirit (John 14:26).

The Spirit of God, the Spirit of Jesus, lives inside of every believer. In Acts 2, Peter said that when we repent and are baptized, we receive forgiveness for our sins, but we also receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. And that’s what the Holy Spirit is: a gift.

The Holy Spirit teaches us (John 14:26), intercedes for us (Romans 8:26), and He gives us hope (Romans 15:13). He fills us with God’s love (Romans 5:5), and so much more. The Holy Spirit is God within us. He connects us to God in a way nothing else can. He is our comforter (2 Corinthians 1:3) and our refuge (Psalm 62:8). Our ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). I don’t know how I would live life without Him. That’s why today, I’m thankful Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to live inside of me.

Prayer of Gospel Gratitude

Father God, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to live in me. Thank You that He is with me always. Thank You for the help He gives me when I need it, that He works in my heart always.
